  • Deputy Manager - Level 3 qualified practitioner (maternity cover)

We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and passionate Deputy Manager to join our team on a maternity cover basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong early years professional to take on a leadership role within a caring, supportive, and high-quality nursery environment. We are seeking someone who is committed to delivering outstanding childcare and early education while supporting the day-to-day management of the setting.

About the Role

As Deputy Manager, you will work closely with the Nursery Manager to help lead the nursery team, maintain high standards of care and education, and ensure compliance with all EYFS and safeguarding requirements.

You will play a key role in supporting staff, building positive relationships with families, and creating a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment where children can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the daily management and organisation of the nursery
• Lead and inspire staff to deliver high-quality early years practice
• Ensure compliance with EYFS and safeguarding requirements
• Support planning, observations, and assessment procedures
• Build strong partnerships with parents and carers
• Assist with staff supervision, mentoring, and development
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and wellbeing throughout the setting
• Contribute to continuous improvement and positive team culture

Essential Requirements

✔ Full Level 3 Early Years Qualification (or equivalent recognised qualification)
✔ Previous experience in an early years setting
✔ Leadership or senior practitioner experience preferred
✔ Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
✔ Excellent communication and organisational skills
✔ A positive, reliable, and professional approach
✔ Passion for delivering outstanding childcare and education

This position is initially offered on a fixed-term maternity cover contract but there will be scope for further career progression once this initial period if over.  All appointments are subject to enhanced safeguarding checks, including a DBS check, in line with statutory requirements.

Part-time vacancies:

  • Level 3 qualified practitioner (holiday and sickness cover)

We are looking for a Level 3 qualified practitioner who would like a part-time flexible role providing cover for holidays and sickness. Whilst only being part-time, you will still play a vital role in providing a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where young children can explore, learn, and achieve key developmental milestones.​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities in line with the EYFS

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment

  • Build strong partnerships with parents, keeping them informed of their child’s development

  • Monitor and support the development of individual children through observations and assessments

  • Support and mentor junior staff members, fostering a collaborative team spirit​​

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years

  • Experience working with children aged 9 months to 5 years

  • A genuine passion for early years development and a nurturing personality

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and health & safety procedures
